Early Years & Key Stage 1
Early Years Foundation Stage (Kindergarten)
In Kindergarten, children learn primarily through play, exploration and discovery. The curriculum is built around seven key areas of learning:
- Communication and Language
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Our experienced Early Years team creates an environment where children feel happy, safe and supported as they begin their educational journey. Through structured teaching, specialist lessons and child-led learning experiences, children develop the skills, confidence and curiosity needed for future success.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
Learning Through a Caymanian Lens
From Kindergarten onwards, children explore the culture, traditions, history and natural environment of the Cayman Islands through meaningful, age-appropriate learning experiences. As they learn about their community and surroundings, they develop a strong sense of identity, belonging and appreciation for the world around them.
Beyond the Classroom
Learning extends beyond the classroom through educational visits, guest speakers, themed learning experiences and opportunities to participate in the wider life of the school. Students develop confidence, communication skills and a sense of belonging through experiences such as the Buddy Programme, Student Council and House activities.
Pastoral Care and Support
The wellbeing of every child is central to life at Cayman Prep and High School. We provide a caring and supportive environment where children feel safe, valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our Learning Support team works closely with teachers and families to ensure that every child receives the support, challenge and encouragement they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Looking Ahead
Early Years and Key Stage 1 provide the foundations for future learning. As children progress through the Primary School, they continue to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning while taking on increasing responsibility and challenge.
