Early Years & Key Stage 1 Curriculum

Early Years & Key Stage 1 Curriculum

Learn With Us

The curriculum in Early Years (Kindergarten) and Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and the English National Curriculum, enriched to reflect the unique culture, heritage and values of the Cayman Islands. Our international approach combines best practice with meaningful local learning, helping children develop a strong sense of identity, belonging and global awareness.

We provide a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. In Kindergarten, children learn through play, exploration and purposeful experiences across the seven areas of learning, while in Key Stage 1 they build on these foundations through increasingly structured and challenging learning opportunities.

We have high expectations for every child and are committed to helping each student reach their full potential. Through practical activities, enquiry-based learning and real-world experiences, children develop confidence, resilience and independence while making meaningful connections between their learning and the world around them.

Our curriculum has a strong connection to Caymanian heritage and community. Children explore the history, geography, traditions and environment of the Cayman Islands through subjects such as Social Studies, Geography and History, Science and Understanding the World. Educational visits, community partnerships and local learning experiences help children develop pride in their islands and an appreciation of their role within the wider community.

Our curriculum includes English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Social Studies, Geography and History, Religious Education, Physical Education, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Music, Spanish and PSHE. Specialist teachers deliver Art and Design, Computing, Music, Spanish and Physical Education, providing expert teaching and enriching learning experiences.

Children are encouraged to become confident learners, compassionate individuals and responsible citizens. As a Christian school, our values underpin all aspects of school life, nurturing respect for others, care for the environment, service to the community and an appreciation of Caymanian and global cultures. Through these experiences, children develop the character, knowledge and skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.
