Primary School
Additional Learning Support Needs
At Cayman Prep and High School’s Primary site, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student, including those who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), receives tailored support through high-quality, daily teaching. Class teachers, in collaboration with our fully qualified ALSN (Additional Learning Support Needs) teachers, adapt the curriculum to meet the specific needs of SEND students. For those on our SEND register at Phase 3, a Learning Support Plan (LSP) is provided to ensure individualized guidance.
Our dedicated ALSN Department offers a wide range of specialized interventions, such as fine motor skills development, handwriting groups, social skills training, guided reading, class-based math support, and phonics enhancement. Programs like Word Wasp, Toe by Toe, Power of 2, Stiles, and SPIRE are also employed to support students with dyslexia or specific learning needs. Additionally, evidence-based interventions such as the Wilson Reading System and On Cloud 9 are delivered to small groups or individuals, allowing students to achieve their full potential.
Through these tailored educational plans, specialized resources, early interventions, and close collaboration with teachers and parents, we strive to unlock each child’s academic, social, and emotional potential. Our inclusive approach ensures that every student feels valued, confident, and fully integrated into our vibrant school community.
