About CPHS

Cayman Prep & High School

Directors Welcome

At CPHS, we believe that students should be supported and nurtured so they can thrive and grow in all areas of their lives. While we are certainly proud of our strong academic record and consistently excellent external exam results, we are even more proud that our students’ learning extends to all aspects of a happy and fulfilling life: spiritual and moral development, physical and mental health, self-esteem and confidence, creative arts, social skills and so much more.

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 10:10

In line with our mission statement, we provide our students with:

A learning environment that is stimulating, safe and welcoming

Our staff of passionate, highly-trained educators is purposeful in creating a warm, joyful and enriching learning community where every child feels that they belong. We cater to a variety of students through personal support and individualised pathways so they can develop their talents, skills and intellectual curiosity to the best of their unique abilities. Our educational provisions aim to develop the whole child through learning experiences that are engaging and challenging, both in and out of the classroom.

An education firmly rooted in Christian principles

At CPHS, our teaching, curriculum and ethos are undergirded by the Christian faith of the United Church of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands and guided by our school values: loyalty, forgiveness, self-discipline, integrity, empathy, friendship, excellence, caring, respect and communication. Students’ spiritual wellbeing and moral education are key priorities for us, and they are guided in contributing to society through kindness, generosity and service to others.

The tools to be critical, creative thinkers

A major focus for us is ensuring that students learn how to learn, developing the skills they need to think for themselves. Our broad curriculum and extra-curricular activities develop knowledge and understanding, analytical thinking and growth mindset. Creativity, confidence, and physical and mental wellbeing are fostered through the arts, physical education and sport, among other subjects.

The foundation to be responsible citizens

An understanding of local and global citizenship is developed through in-class activities, opportunities for community service and environmental action, and strong community links. Caymanian heritage and culture are embedded throughout the curriculum, and balanced with exploration of world cultures and languages. Student council, prefect, house captain and peer teaching roles provide practical ways to develop leadership skills and to learn about democracy.

The skills to be life-long learners in an ever-changing world

At our school, we love learning! We want our students to treasure learning for its own sake and to enjoy challenging themselves to acquire new skills, languages and hobbies throughout their lives. The ‘Cayman Prep Advantage’ empowers them with 21st century competencies and ‘soft’ skills that facilitate success in tertiary education and fulfilling careers of all kinds. We also trust that their experiences with us will help ensure their mental, emotional and physical health and happiness throughout their lives.

We are proud of the thousands of students who have passed through our doors over the last 76 years and counting. They continue to let their light shine in a variety of careers, in every level of post-16 education, in charities, churches and public service. We look forward to seeing what today’s students accomplish over the next 76 years!
