Little Trotters visit
Child Development Vertical Learning
On Friday 22nd November the child development vertical learning group visited Little Trotters farm and nursery school on Walkers Road. This term in child development students have studied reproduction, pregnancy, labour and how a child then develops from 0-5 years old. Therefore, a visit to Little Trotters was the perfect opportunity to see first-hand how children develop and at different stages. When we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome by Josie who had fresh banana bread for us all. We then split into four groups and went to the 4 different learning spaces.
There are three classes, the Turtle class which has children from 18 months – 2.5 years old, the Stingray class with children from 2.5 – 3.5 years old and the Iguana class with children from 3.5 – 4.5 years old. On Friday children also do yoga on the porch! Each of the groups were able to see every class and understand how development can differ with children in the same group. Our students were fantastic, they got involved with the activities that the children were doing, they got down on their level and asked meaningful questions to the many great people working there. We also got to explore outside and meet the animals: a duck, horse, goat, pig, rabbits and we loved it! Below are some pictures! A huge thank you to Little Trotters for allowing us to come visit and for the amazingly warm welcome we all received.
