Extra-curricular Activities
CPHS extra-curricular provision, as integral to the CPHS Advantage, supports students’ holistic development, helping them grow beyond the academic curriculum by fostering skills, interests, and values that contribute to their personal, social, and future professional lives. At CPHS, we focus on six key objectives designed to benefit our children:
- Developing Key Skills: Extra-curricular activities provide opportunities to build teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills in real-world contexts.
- Enhancing Academic Success: Studies suggest that students engaged in extra-curriculars often perform better academically, as the skills developed—like discipline and goal-setting—translate into improved academic outcomes.
- Fostering Emotional and Social Growth: Participation in clubs, sports, and arts allows students to build friendships, gain self-confidence, and feel a sense of belonging. This supports positive mental health and social resilience.
- Promoting Physical Health: Sports and physical activities encourage lifelong healthy habits, helping students improve their physical fitness and understand the importance of physical well-being.
- Encouraging Career Exploration: Clubs related to specific fields (such as coding, drama, or debating) help students explore career interests, develop specific talents, and sometimes gain certifications (e.g., Duke of Edinburgh).
- Instilling a Sense of Community and Responsibility: Many extra-curricular programs emphasise values such as community service, environmental responsibility, and cultural awareness, preparing students to become engaged, responsible citizens.
The extra-curricular provision at CPHS is to provide students with a broad range of opportunities to discover their talents and explore their interests through an engaging and diverse extra-curricular program. With over 50 clubs available each year, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
PROCEDURES:
- Most High School clubs are free of charge; however, fees may be applied to certain clubs only when necessary to cover specific expenses or resources (if that club is chosen)
- The extra-curricular club and activities schedule will be sent electronically to all High School families during the first week of each term. A full list of daily club offerings can be found here. Clubs are managed through the SchoolBuddy system, where students and parents can also sign up directly.
