Junior MUN Conference 2019​

Students participated in the prestigious Montessori Model Untied Nation Conference for the fourth year running. This year Prep students acted as delegates of the United States, the Plurinational State Bolivia and Kazakhstan. All of our students excelled in their Committee Sessions and out of 2000 student who attend this Conference from all over the world, four Prep students were chosen to address the General Assembly at the closing ceremony of the Conference which is help at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. These students were Sophie Ellison, Isabella Do Vale, Danielle Do Vale and Luke McFarlane. They were tasked with summarising the resolutions they had formed with other delegates in their Committee Sessions. This was a huge honour and a once in a lifetime opportunity.

In order to prepare for the Conference, students had to research and write position papers on a wide range of political and social issues that are currently being reviewed by the actual UN. Every single one of our students were fully engaged in their Committee Sessions and had leading roles in drafting resolutions.

We hugely proud of our students for the time and dedication they showed in preparation and the way they conducted themselves thought the trip and at the Conference. We look forward to seeing our Year 7 and Year 8 delegates again next year and to welcoming new delegates.

In addition to their hard work students also had some great cultural experiences. They attended a Broadway performance of King Kong, visited Central park Zoo and found out about all about the animal life there and went bowling in Times Square.
