The curriculum in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) is based on the English National Curriculum and is enriched to reflect the culture, heritage and values of the Cayman Islands. Building on the foundations established in the Early Years and Key Stage 1, our broad and balanced curriculum encourages students to become confident, curious and independent learners.
We are fortunate to combine international best practice with learning experiences that are meaningful to our local context. Through engaging lessons, practical investigations and real-world opportunities, students develop strong skills in English, Mathematics and Science while fostering creativity, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving across the curriculum.
Students study English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Social Studies, Geography and History, Religious Education, Physical Education, Art and Design, Design and Technology, Music, Spanish, French and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education). Specialist teachers deliver Computing, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Spanish and French, enriching students’ learning through expert subject knowledge and inspiring experiences.
A distinctive feature of our Key Stage 2 curriculum is its strong focus on Caymanian identity, heritage and community. Through Social Studies, Geography and History, students explore the history, culture, government and environment of the Cayman Islands while developing an understanding of their role as active and responsible citizens. Opportunities such as Cayman Week, fieldwork, environmental projects and partnerships with local organisations help students make meaningful connections between their learning and the world around them.
Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to develop leadership, responsibility and resilience through a wide range of experiences. These include the Year 6 Buddy Programme, Student Council, House leadership opportunities, community projects and educational visits, helping children grow in confidence and prepare for a successful transition to secondary school.
