High School is an exciting stage in a student’s journey. At Cayman Prep & High School, students are challenged academically, encouraged to pursue their interests and supported as they develop the independence, resilience and confidence needed for future success.

As students progress through Key Stages 3 and 4, they are given increasing opportunities to lead, serve, explore and contribute to the wider school community. Through a combination of academic challenge, co-curricular involvement, Christian values and supportive relationships, students develop the skills and character needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.

A Journey Through High School

Key Stage 3
The transition to High School introduces students to a broader curriculum taught by specialist teachers. Students are encouraged to become increasingly independent learners while developing strong foundations in organisation, resilience and personal responsibility.

Key Stage 4
As students begin their GCSE courses, they are given increased responsibility and choice in shaping their educational journey. Alongside the core curriculum, students select subjects that reflect their interests, strengths and future aspirations.

Sixth Form
Sixth Form students enjoy greater independence and responsibility as they prepare for university, careers and life beyond school. Supported by specialist teachers, dedicated tutors and experienced pastoral staff, students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically while developing the confidence, resilience and maturity needed for their next steps. Vertical Learning

A hallmark of High School life at Cayman Prep and High School is our Vertical Learning programme.

Vertical Learning gives students opportunities to explore interests, skills and ideas beyond the traditional curriculum. Students choose subjects based on their interests and learn alongside peers from different year groups, creating opportunities for collaboration, leadership and new friendships across the school community.

The programme encourages students to step outside their comfort zones, try something new and develop practical skills that support life beyond school. Designed to broaden horizons and inspire curiosity, Vertical Learning reflects our commitment to providing a broad, balanced and forward-thinking education.

Leadership & Student Voice

Leadership opportunities are embedded throughout High School life.

Students are encouraged to contribute positively to the school community through roles such as:

• Student Council Representatives

• Prefects
• Senior Student Leadership Team
• Head Boy and Head Girl
• Community Service Leaders

These opportunities help students develop confidence, initiative, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility.

The Student Council plays an important role in school life and provides students with a meaningful opportunity to influence positive change.

Representatives from every tutor group work together to share ideas, propose improvements and help shape aspects of school life, from events and House competitions to charitable initiatives and student wellbeing.

Every student is a member of one of our three Houses:

The House system creates a strong sense of belonging across the school community. Throughout the year, students participate in a wide range of House competitions that celebrate academic achievement, creativity, sport, leadership and teamwork.

House events encourage students to work collaboratively, support one another and contribute positively to school life while building friendships across year groups.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Some of the most memorable learning experiences take place outside the classroom.

Throughout their time at Cayman Prep & High School, students have opportunities to participate in a range of local, regional and international educational experiences that bring learning to life and help develop independence, confidence and global awareness.

Educational visits are designed to enrich classroom learning while giving students opportunities to develop responsibility, resilience and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Whether exploring a local ecosystem, visiting a university campus or experiencing a different culture, these experiences help students make meaningful connections between their studies and the wider world.

Preparing for Sixth Form and Beyond

As students progress through High School, they develop the academic knowledge, independence and personal qualities needed for success in Sixth Form and beyond.

By the end of Year 11, students leave High School as confident learners, responsible leaders and active members of the community, ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of Sixth Form.
