Head of Upper School - Mel Wright
Welcome to the Upper School!
The Upper School Aims to develop the skills and values that all our students need in order to be a success in their chosen field. By offering a wide variety of subjects we aim to enable all to shine. Our diverse option choices allow our students to build upon their current skills and talents and widen their experiences to ensure they are open to, and able to explore, new opportunities.
Our highly successful and well established I/GCSE programme is an excellent step for all students on their continuing academic journey, preparing them fully for A-Levels, further education or employment.
All the academic courses we offer are designed not only to give the students a qualification in that particular subject but also to develop skills that will enable them to become lifelong learners. We encourage our students to cultivate the vital analytical and evaluative skills of decision making. In addition to our academic subjects we also offer career advice and PSE/Ethics, all of which are designed to create “critical creative thinkers and responsible citizens”.
Although the focus in Years 10 and 11 is firmly towards academics we encourage the students to join one of our many extra-curricular clubs which includes everything from Art to Soccer to Robotics to a huge range of musical instruments. Also, we like them to showcase their talents in our annual school production, at our annual Art and Music Appreciation evening. We also love celebrating our students' many successes in the arts, drama, music, sporting and community service fields.
We take an interest in every one of our students and are justifiably proud of them. All have unique talents and skills and everybody has the opportunity to shine. Please feel free to come and visit us at any time.
