School Uniform

School Uniform Details - General

The uniform shop at Smith Road stocks all items of uniform for students from Kindergarten to Year 11, with the exception of the required black leather shoes. We are proud of our uniform and all that it stands for and therefore insist that our students wear it neatly and correctly at all times.

Uniform is checked on a regular basis.

Kindergarten to Year 6:

Girls:

› Turquoise and white gingham dress
› Plain white socks which must come above the ankles
 

Boys:

› Turquoise and white gingham shirt
› Khaki shorts (Infants and Juniors)
› Plain white socks which must come above the ankles

School hats are an essential part of the uniform for both girls and boys in the Primary School. In the High School hats are optional but students encouraged to wear them when outside.

Girls' hair:

› Hair must be neatly groomed.
› Hair accessories must be navy or white. Long hair must be tied back or plaited.
› No hair dyes of an unnatural colour are allowed

Boys Hair:

› Hair must be tidy and conservative in style and length, no longer than the collar. (No tails or hair falling on the face)
› No hair dyes of an unnatural colour are allowed

Shoes : Regular black, closed low-heeled shoes are required for both girls and boys. No platform shoes or boots are allowed. Please remember when you are buying shoes for children that neither patent nor suede is allowed. Shoes must be closed in at the toe and heel. Black trainers are not acceptable as shoes, but may be worn for PE. Shoes must be kept in good repair.

Labels : We strongly recommend that all items of clothing and shoes are clearly labelled with students' names.

Appropriate Uniform:

The school reserves the right to determine what is "appropriate" for school.

Years 7 to 11

Uniform for students in Y7- 11 is available (except for shoes) at the uniform shop.

Girls:

› Turquoise blouse with the school crest on the pocket
› Navy A-line skirt, no more than one inch above the knee
› Plain white socks which must come above the ankles
› Regular, black, closed, low-heeled leather shoes, not trainers
› Navy tie for special occasions
› Navy or white hair accessories
› One small pair of plain stud earrings* only
› No make up or nail polish
 
 

Boys:

› Turquoise shirt with the school crest on the pocket
› Plain navy shorts or long trousers
› Long trousers for special occasions. Trousers must fit at the waist and should not be baggy or drag on the floor.
› Plain black belt
› Plain white or navy socks which must come above the ankles
› Regular, plain, black leather shoes, not trainers
› Navy tie for special occasions
› No jewellery. Earrings, including studs, are not allowed

PE Kit (girls and boys):

  • House T-shirt; Navy shorts
  • Plain black or white trainers with non-marking soles. High School students must bring PE shoes to school with the rest of the PE kit and not wear them to school.

* Apart from shoes and navy socks, all items, including earrings, must be bought from the uniform shop.

School uniform for students in Years 12 and 13:

Girls:

› White blouse* with the school crest on the pocket
› Khaki skirt - no more than one inch above the knee - or plain khaki trousers
› Plain white socks which must come above the ankles
› Regular, black, closed, low-heeled leather shoes, not trainers. Heels must not be more than 1½ inches.
› Navy tie* for special occasions
› No make up or nail polish
› One small pair of plain stud earrings* and a simple silver or gold chain

Boys:

› White shirt* with the school crest on the pocket
› Plain khaki trousers, fitting at the waist and of the correct length. Trousers must fit at the waist and should not be baggy or drag on the floor.
› Plain black or brown belt
› Plain white or navy socks which must come above the ankles
› Regular, plain, black leather shoes, not trainers
› Navy tie* for special occasions
› Earrings including studs are not allowed
