Parent Teacher Association
The school has an active PTA which is open to the school's teachers and the parents and guardians of the school's children. The PTA's aims include providing opportunities for regular contact between parents and teachers, helping parents to understand the educational system and aims of the school, and generally promoting the welfare of the school. The PTA also uses the funds raised by a companion body, Friends of Prep, for the benefit of the school's children.
The PTA's committee has set itself two main objectives. The first is to enhance communications between parents and the school's teachers and management, so that all those involved in the school work in harmony toward the common goal of continuously improving the education and facilities available to the school's children. The second, related, objective is to support the school's management and governing body in developing the school as a world-class school.
The PTA is fortunate in that it has many parents and teachers who give generously of their time in supporting its aims and activities, and welcomes all who are willing to volunteer. The school has a system of class parent representatives who provide a link between parents and teachers, and between the PTA members and the PTA committee. Any parent who would like to be a class parent representative is very welcome to volunteer, and can do so by approaching any member of the PTA committee.
The PTA committee strongly supports the once-a-term general meetings, open to the whole membership, and encourages all members to come along to the meetings. There is a lot of time allotted for members to raise issues of importance to the education of the school's children, and to make suggestions to help the PTA to meet its objectives.
